The Residence
The Ryder Cup Residence is named in honor of The Ryder Cup Matches, one of the last great sporting events founded on prestige rather than prize money, spanning 34 competitions over 77 years. No duel was more memorable than the 1991 event on the Ocean Course at Kiawah Island, where the match came down to a 6-foot putt by Bernard Langer that just missed the cup to secure a win for the Americans 14 ½ - 13 ½.
With over 3,000 square feet of living space, the Ryder Cup Residence hugs the 15th fairway of the Gary Player designed Cougar Point golf course. Spectacular golf course views are just the beginning, as this beautifully renovated and decorated four bedroom, five bath home has all the amenities the weary golfer could ask for, including a 52-inch HDTV plasma TV in the living room, 16-foot indoor putting green, wireless Internet and of course the acclaimed Markers signature beds. The oversized back deck is perfect for grilling or relaxing on loungers that overlook the large, private back yard with golf course and woods-views.
The Experience
For thousands of years, eagles, egrets and other natural residents of Kiawah have enjoyed its lush, semi-tropical environment, while remaining sheltered from the world. Today, Kiawah Island combines this unique natural environment with the gracious Southern Hospitality found in nearby Charleston to offer a truly special vacation experience.
At Kiawah Island Golf Resort, Markers Members tee up against the works of the masters of modern golf architecture - Pete Dye, Tom Fazio, Clyde Johnston, Jack Nicklaus and Gary Player. The result is a collection of five golf courses as diverse as the architects themselves.
From ten miles of romantic, unspoiled beaches to 30 miles of paved, biking trails, Kiawah Island offers some of the best golf and family activities on the East Coast, including kayaking and canoeing adventures as well as alligator and birding walks; from oceanfront fine dining to riverside oyster roasts.
