Hall of Fame Golfer Billy Casper and Family Join The Markers Golfer’s Residence Club
(ST. GEORGE, UTAH) – October 15, 2005 – World Golf Hall of Fame and PGA Hall of Fame inductee, Billy Casper, and his family have found their next golf adventure as the newest members of The Markers, the first and only residence club created exclusively for devout golfers. Billy Casper and his family own a Partner membership in The Markers, which is designed for four friends and/or business partners to collectively share Club privileges. In addition, Billy will serve as a senior advisor to The Markers, participating in Club activities and assisting The Marker’s Players Council in creating legendary golf experiences for members. The Markers is the first concept of its kind, providing equity membership in a club which will own 36 luxury homes situated among the world’s most renowned golf destinations as well as a menu of year-round golf experiences.
“Having such a legendary golfer join our team as a member and advisor speaks volumes to the value of The Markers concept,” said Mitch Brinton, co-founder and managing director of The Markers.
During his career, Billy Casper won more than 60 professional tournament championships, 51 of which were won on the PGA Tour. Some of his notable championship victories include the U.S. Open in 1959 and 1966, The Masters in 1970 and the Canadian Open in 1967. Casper was selected eight times as a member of the United States Ryder Cup Team and served as Ryder Cup Team captain in 1979. He is a five-time Vardon Trophy winner, a 1978 World Golf Hall of Fame inductee and a 1982 PGA Hall of Fame inductee.
“I was drawn to The Markers concept and the palpable passion for golf that drives this club,” said Billy Casper. “The Markers provides my family access to golf’s best destinations as well as discounted fees, golf experiences and – for a family that plays golf every chance they get – it’s the perfect travel option.”
Bob Casper followed in his father’s footsteps and began his professional career in 1984. He has played the Asian PGA Tour and events on the PGA and Nationwide Tours. In 1998, Bob teamed up with his father to win the Champions Challenge in Utah, defeating teams including Jack Nicklaus, Gary Player, Lee Trevino and Johnny Miller. Following his professional golf career, Bob moved into broadcasting and has hosted Real Golf Radio since its inception in 1999 (then Fairways & Greens), and commentated for CBS Sports Radio and Masters.org during the 2001 and 2002 Masters Tournaments. He will be part of the CBS Sports Radio broadcast team at the PGA Championship and the Ryder Cup for the next four years.
